Oddly enough, he has been in Doctor Who before, back in The Fires of Pompeii, as the merchant Caecilius.
It is also interesting to note after going with young Doctors, they are reverting back to an older Doctor.

Castle/Firefly TV Intro Mashup

I saw the following video yesterday, a mash up of two of my favourite shows – Castle and Firefly. (Both, oddly, starring Nathan Fillion.)
It takes the theme and style of Firefly and uses the cast of Castle. And its great.
With one week before Doctor Who starts up again, a short prequel to the first episode, The Bells of Saint John, has been released.
March 30 sees the return of The Doctor, with the second half of the current season of Doctor Who
To whet our appetites, a new trailer has been released.

Jeeves and Wooster

I’ve recently stumbled upon a TV show called Jeeves and Wooster – and wish I’d known about it earlier. It was actually made twenty years ago – staring a much younger Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie – and was based on the Jeeves series of novels and short stories by P. G. Wodehouse, and of which I am now going to have to read at some stage.
The series is set in England and the US in the 1930s, and revolves around ‘Bertie’ Wooster (played by Hugh Laurie), a young man of independent means, and Jeeves (played by Stephen Fry), his ‘gentleman’s personal gentleman’ or valet. Bertie is an amiable young fellow who is always getting into misadventures, either helping out friends and family who get themselves in a pickle, or by accidentally falling into engagements – which seems to occur on a regular basis. It falls to Jeeves, the brains of the outfit, to extract him and his friends and family form their problems.
One of the amusing things about the show is the way actors keep changing – some characters are played by up to four actors across the four seasons, while some actors play a couple of characters.
And then you have the theme…
Last night my sister had one of her friends around – she is here to help celebrate my sister’s surprise birthday before my sister heads overseas for a couple of years. Before she leaves she is working her way through my Doctor Who collection and her friend and I got her to watch the awarding winning Blink, one of the best episodes of New Who around, and the first time we get to see the nightmare fuel Weeping Angels. And here is the Tv Tropes page on Blink for the episode in all its trope goodness.
She had seen the two-parter with the Weeping Angels from the fifth seasons and Matt Smith’s Doctor and said she had dreamed about the Weeping Angels after part one. No idea what Blink has done to her given it is a far, far worse bit of nightmare fuel. You have to love Steven Moffat for that – he really knows how to write those kind of episodes.
Apart from the Weeping Angles, the episode features one of the best bets of a wibbly wobbly timey wimey time loop event that has appeared in a TV show. Best leave if to The Doctor to explain it.

Castle – my favourite TV show currently showing – has been renewed for a third full season, which is excellent news. Ratings continue to improve and the show keeps on getting better.
And they recently released a promo clip for the show which showcases the show perfectly – sexy, funny and great acting.
Captain Mal Reynolds Returns

Before any Firefly fans – and I count myself as one – get too excited, Firefly isn’t returning.
I am instead referring to Castle, which stars Nathan Fillion, and specifically to the promo for next weeks new episode.
Yes, that is right – Castle (as played by Nathan Fillion) dresses up as Mal Reynolds (as played by Nathan Fillion). Its bizaare, its surreal and its what I love about the show – it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It is also not the first Firefly reference that has been seen in the show, and there has also been a reference to Dr Horrible’s Sing-along-blog which Nathan Fillion was also in.
Looking forward to watching the episode and seeing how it plays out.
