More Cara’s Choice Coming Soon

13 08 2010

The next part – part eight – of Cara’s Choice is coming along, with the first, rough draft done. Another very major reveal happens in the story, about the nature of someone and who – or what – they are. Two people actually.

Also coming along nicely are two other short stories, one dealing with Nhaqosa and the aftermath of Echoes of Dark Reflections, and the second a steampunk short story featuring Sir Richard Hammerman – gentlemen-adventurer – airships, sky pirates and more.

Cara’s Choice Part Seven Released

31 07 2010

Part Seven of Cara’s Choice has been finished and is now available on the website. Must write the next parts more regularly.

It can be found here.

As you will see things are getting interesting and a couple of major reveals have happened. They won’t be the last though.

Cara’s Choice Part Seven Coming Soon

28 07 2010

Part Seven of the (slowly) ongoing serial Cara’s Choice is almost ready to go.  The rough draft has been completed and now just needs some editing work.

Things are heating up in this part – we are getting to the pointy end and there are also some major revelations, though they won’t be the last.

Hopefully you will see it in a day or two.

Cara’s Choice Update

14 07 2010

I’ve recently become aware that Smashwords, where most of my readers are, prefers not to support serial stories, such as Cara’s Choice. As such I’m going to have to make some changes.

Firstly, I will continue to serialise the story on this website for those seeking regular fixed. However, for Smashwords, that is going to have to change. Instead of serialised chapters, I am going to have to release it in compiled books. For the first step in this I need to finish off the first book of Cara’s Choice – though it will probably be more of a novella than a full blown novel. I’ve got bits of it mapped out so what I really need to do is sit down and finish it off as soon as possible, especially given it is my most popular download on Smashwords.

Hopefully that won’t take too long to do – is been a bit long since the last chapter was done.

Cara’s Choice Part Six Finished

12 05 2010

I have finally gotten around to finishing off the next part of the ongoing Cara’s Choice serial – Part Six is now available to read.

It follows on after the eventful visit to the Seer, and introduces a new character, the unremarkable Mr Grey, as well as some more mysteries.

Part Seven will not take as long as this one. Promise.

Cara’s Choice Part Six Rough Draft Done

11 05 2010

Well, after a long delay, the sixth part of Cara’s Choice has finally been completed. At least the rough draft of it has. Needs a bit of work on a rewrite and then will become available. Hopefully that will take place in the next few days.

Coming Up Next

22 04 2010

So now I’ve got a new short story finished, what is next on the agenda of writing?

Looks like there are a few people who enjoy Cara’s Choice, so the next part will be moving to the top of the (rather substantial) queue. I know what happens next (which is a good thing) but it just needs to be written down and cleaned up.

In addition to that I will also be trying to finish off the second story of non-serious sci-fi setting featuring the the slightly sarcastic android Ray and his somewhat naive master – and a bevy of green alien princesses. I did mention it was not serious, right?

I found, in the recess of my old computer, another sci-fi short story from some years back – and not light hearted at all like Ray’s one is. It will require some tidying up and adapting to some new ideas I’ve had before it is ready.

And then there is the next story for Nhaqosa the minotaur, a steampunk short story introducing Sir Richard Hammerman – gentleman adventure – and his friends, another tale of the mythical hero Cahuac, a children’s story I’m working on for my niece and nephews, a new one with Professor Halir and Harry Ban in the gunpowder fantasy setting and various other ideas. Oh, and somewhere in that working on the novel.

It is a full time job – just with no pay.

Current Projects

4 01 2010

We are a few days into the year already and time for a brief update on what is in the immediate works. So far I am off to a slow but steady start, having hit the 1K minimum daily goal each day. Once the ball gets rolling that will pick up to better figures.

Right now the goal is to finish off three stories that are in the works for the Pure Escapism range of short stories. The rough draft of part five of Cara’s Choice is finally done and that should soon be rewritten and released. It has been far too long since the last one was done.

Also the rough drafts are coming along for two as yet unnamed stories. The first is in the Primal Tales setting, the sequel to The Hall of Black Trees, and picks up on the story of Braega, Tudhala and Alia. The other is a follow up story to Ray and his Human, which I never expected to write more about, but another idea came to me, featuring the rather common SF trope of green alien princesses. Of course, this being a rather non-serious setting, things don’t go as expected.

There are a couple of ideas floating about for the next part of the story of Nhaqosa the Minotaur, but they are waiting until the other three are done before they get a look at.

And then there is the novel. I have come down to a decision at last – it’ll be the as yet unnamed Australiana fantasy setting mentioned previous but most likely with a lot of steampunk elements thrown in as well. Rather over the top, but it should be fun. Trying to finalise details and then it’ll be off with the first rough draft.

Cara’s Choice: Part Four

3 09 2009

The fourth part of Cara’s Choice has now been competed and posted.

The plot for part four has been kicking around in my head for a bit, but it has only been in the last couple of days I got around to writing it. The rapidity of gong from writing the rough draft to the rewrite to editing and checking surprised me. It literally poured forth. It certainly was a good feeling to have.

The fourth part of the story introduced a new character to the serial; Phineas, a painter. More than that I won’t say for fear of spoiling it. And of course throws in a few more mysteries.

The PDF can be found here.

Cara’s Choice: Part Three Posted

13 08 2009

The third part of Cara’s Choice has been sitting around almost complete for a while now so I decided it was high time it was fully completed.

And so it was and now has been posted up ready for reading.

Not much action takes place in it, but it moves the story along and introduces a few more elements and of course a few more mysteries. Where would a serial be without ongoing mysteries to keep the interest up?

The PDF can be found here.
