I received my first review for Tears of the Mountain on Amazon. It feels like now I am officially under way, though the road ahead still has a long way to travel. But actually having a review – and one that isn’t terrible to boot – is a great feeling.

I also have an interview coming up at some stage that I’ll link too when it happens.

January has come and gone – yes already. One twelfth of the year has already flown by.

Writing wise it was a decent month. Notable points are;

130K words written – mostly rewriting old drafts but still that is progress.
70K done on rewrite of Winter Wolves novel.
10.5K done of rewrite of Dawn of Wolves novella.
Tears of the Mountain published on Smashwords/Amazon.
Halfway into the rewrite of He Stands Between.
Various notes and ideas done for other stories.

Hope I can keep up the pace for February.
Aims for February are finishing off Winter Wolves and hopefully Dawn of the Wolves, plus a short story or two. And trying to market Tears of the Mountain better.

The latest report put out from Amazon (which can be read here) has some very interesting figures – they are now selling more ebooks than paperbacks, at the rate of 115 to 100. That is good news for ebook sellers, especially the indies.

That doesn’t mean bad news for paperbacks though. Ebooks generally sell far cheaper than paperbacks, with a whole slew of them going for just $0.99. So while the volume may be higher, paperbacks still make the larger portion of profits.

Still, it points to a shiny future ahead for those like me – I hope.

The plunge has been taken; Tears of the Mountain is now on Amazon. Now to see where it lands.

Currently it is on sale for the bargain price of $0.99 (US) – as a brand new author putting out the first novel my thinking is it is best to not aim too high and to give people an opportunity to get into my style without much risk. The later books will be at a more normal price I think.

Now that it is out I need to start looking for people willing to review it – having reviews can only help things along.

I also need to get back to the other stories – Winter Wolves is up to 56K on the rewrite, though now it is hitting the spot where it deviates from the rough draft so that may slow things down. The novella Dawn of Wolves is now up to 11K. Aim is to have both finished and ready by the end of February, so I need to get a move on.
