I did a quick once over, fixing the worst of the spelling, grammar and continuity errors. Once I get some feedback it'll be on to a more severe edit.

Its been a good feel - and I treated myself to pizza as a reward. Hopefully more such warm glows to come, though for now its back to slaving over the editing. And catching up on other projects.

Congraulations. That's great news. It is such a great sensation when you put that final sentence in. Admittedly, the shine wears off once you plunge into the edits but for awhile you just feel a warm glow. Congratulations and best of luck in the future.

I sent the first 3 pages of 'Perpetual Ray' to qorvus, but failed to include an outline or even a plot idea. The plot goes something like this: After the first assault of the Maddox Maimers led to 5 Maimers dead at the hands of a mother and daugther from a far away town, the Maddox Maimers launch a new assault, a series of attacks, all across Yellow Valley. Unfortunately for the Maimers, Brian and Ray chance to be at every area of attack. Once again, the Maddox Maimers are defeated. And, once again, Ray is awesome.

I've never really considered a collaboration idea so have no idea if it would make things easier or harder. Easier is always the preferred way - if it saves me time to work on other things thats a bonus.

On the About page there is a link to an email address - drop a line through that and we'll see how it goes.

Hey dude. I suppose the last thing you need is a collaboration proposal right now. I've been kicking around an idea of bringing Brian and Ray to Perpetual Twilight for a free Smashwords short story eBook. Shoot me an email and let me know what you think of this. I was thinking since you're busy I could write most of it and you could tweak the Brian/Ray dialog and we could each publish it, maybe call it 'Perpetual Ray'. Don't know how the publishing part of it would work on Smashwords actually. I have the first page already written, if you're interested in seeing it.

I am just so very glad to hear I’m not the only would-be writer who has a serious story-attention-deficit-disorder. I think I have about 30 or so stories (all neatly filed away in their own cabinet, not that that’s very useful), all of them abandoned in favour of some bright and shiny new idea. I think it’s the author’s version of the old cow-new cow phenomenon…

Comment on Fantasy Cliches to Avoid: Part Two by Dominic

Character Names: Probably. I think I have maybe one Tolkienesque placename, but it's well explained in context so I suppose I can let that slide. Although I try my best not to allow my naming to decend into randomised drivel, occasionally in a moment of madness they will slip in :o

Dialogue: Not really written much yet, truth be told, I'm still working my way through the world building and making the story take shape.

Dreams: No, although I have not one, but TWO prologues back to back (ouch). I know, not good, but hey, it's how I write!

Personally I hate it when authors use the standard fantasy archetypes. I can't get my head around why anyone would want to do it. I'm loving the creative process and, frankly, one of the things I find the most fun and exciting is actually creating my own races and cultures. Anything less and I'd consider it to be a bit... well, pointless.

It's like playing a video game and using cheats the whole way through. It removes the whole point of why you're doing it in the first place.

Although, I do believe that it's ok to borrow from established and recognisable tropes from the genre, as long as you don't just add them in generically, but put your own spin on things and make them unique, fresh and exciting. I'm thinking of including dragons at some point in my novel, but I've yet to think of what sets them apart from everyday dragons just yet.

Anyway I'm rambling now so I'll say adieu and goodnight. :D

Started watching this season!
I really like Matt Smith's Doctor. He has a certain nervous energy that makes him very fun to watch. The chemistry between the Doctor and Amy is great, too.
